Dungarvan Town

DÚN GARBHÁN

My Townland

My name is Meabh and I live in Abbeyside, Dungarvan. Abbeyside in Irish is Dún na Mainistreach, which means Fort of the Abbey. It is called that because Monks used to live there 500 years ago. There are 3 schools in Abbeyside & over 300 red houses in Abbeyside. A train used to run from Dungarvan to Waterford a long ago. I  live in Park Lane and I live beside the railway. It is now a walkway which is now called the track. We have a beach called the White Strand because the sand is very pale.

The Crystal Clean County

This is a map of County Waterford. It is a hot-spot map. This means if you move the mouse slowly over the map, it will change to a link (usually a hand) when you get near our school. Hint: west of Dungarvan, between Cappoquin and Ardmore. If you click the link it will bring you to the next section of our site. Try it.
