OUR SCHOOL

Our school is called Whitechurch National School.  There are 116 pupils in the school.  There are six teachers in the school.  The school was built in 1956.  The last extension was built last year.  We got a lovely new hall and Mrs Fennell got a new classroom.  We play games in the hall.  We had a bookfair in the hall last week.  We sold lots of books.  We have a big football pitch at the side of the school.  Every lunchtime we go out to play.  The old school is across the road.  It is falling down. We painted the wall of the school shed a few years ago.  We both like football, hurling and soccer.  We are going swimming on Friday.  We are also getting our Halloween holidays this Friday.  We like our school.

My School

The School was built in 1956, there was an extension built in 1991 and 2005.  We added on a new sports hall and a new classroom.  We have about 120 pupils in our school.  There are four classrooms in the school.  There are two classes to each room.  Mrs Fennell teaches junior and senior infants.  Mr de Búrca teaches 1st and 2nd class.  Mrs Collins teaches 3rd and 4th class and Mr Culloo is the school principal.  The school opens at 9.20am every morning and we finish school at 3 o’clock.  Junior and senior infants go home at 2 o’clock.  The 2nd class pupils are making their first holy communion on the 19th of May 2007.

New School

We will be building on to our school in 2005. The extension will be very big. There will be lots of builders and there will be scaffolding too. The builders will have a lot of work and there will probably be cranes, loaders, JCB's and tractors. There will be a huge roof and the builders will be laying blocks. They will be laying the floor aswell. There will be a lot of work going on and we hope it will be over in the summer. There will be a lot of people in the new school. They are building a new hall so if it is raining, we can do P.E in there. The wall in our classroom will be knocked down to make one big classroom. The new big school will be really good.

Our School

In 1957 the current school in Whitechurch was opened. There are currently 109 pupils in the school. Mr. Culloo is the principal of the school and he teaches 5th and 6th classes. Mrs. Collins is the Vice principal and she teaches 3rd and 4th classes. Mrs. Fennell teaches junior and senior infants and Mr. de Búrca teaches 1st and 2nd classes. Mrs. Power is the secretary. Agnes does the cleaning in the school. Last year the school got the green flag. The boys in 6th class won the mini-sevens this year. The 5th and 6th class made their Confirmation on the 23rd of March 2004. 2nd class will be making their communion on the 8th of May. On the 29th of March they made their first holy penance. When the school was opened the 5th and 6th classes remained upstairs in the old school. An extension was built in 1991 so there is a 5th and 6th classroom in the school now. In 2005 another extension will be built onto the school. In around 1906 the old schools in Whitechurch were opened. The old school building was made up of 2 schools a boys school and girls school.
