Witches

Many witches practice great skill in the art of broomstick flying. If you want to know the way ask an old witch. Witches are very fond of cats, especially black cats. They are the most popular choice as familiars and like witches have long been misunderstood too.

Robert got this from a book called "Ghosts and Witches"

Can you figure out who this is? We had a Hallowe'en Parade in the school on Friday, October 22nd. The infants and 1st and 2nd Class dressed up in Hallowe'en costumes. They went around to the other classes, and they sang some songs. They sang The hockey-Pockey (as Gaeilge).

You will be able to see lots more pictures at the bottom of this page.

The Ploughing Match is the biggest occasion for farmers throughout the year. There were over 10,000 people at the ploughing match. Most of the people were farmers. There was an Aubarac Heifer up for grabs at the ploughing match, which was won by Tim Murray from Co. Clare. There was also a good amount of Tractors there for example Valtra Valmet Case New Holland and many more.

There where also bale spliters and slurry tanks. There  were cattle, for example, Angus Holstein and British freisans, Jersey and many more.

This is a puzzle.

Pick a number between 1 and 10. It can’t be 1 or 10. Then multiply your number by 9. When you get your answer, (example 54) add your two digits, for example 5+4=9. Subtract your answer by 5. Then get it to correspond with the letter in the alphabet. For example A=1, B=2, C=3, D=4 and so on. Then get a country in Europe starting with your letter. Then pick an animal starting with the second letter of the country you picked, but it can’t be a type of bird. Then think of the colour of the animal. If you did it right you should have ended up with a grey elephant from Denmark !

Lara Lynn Children’s’ Hospice

A few weeks ago I went out riding in a trek at Finnisk Valley Riding Centre. It was a competition. We had to go through the woods, and stop to do challenges. Example: seek and find, the water challenge, the three rings, the maze, etc. We had a map, and we had to follow the signs to get to the next challenge.   Some places we had to walk, some places we had to trot, and some places we had to canter. When we got back to the Riding Centre we had to do an obstacle course. We had to go in and out of cones, jump three jumps, get a baton, gallop down and pass the baton to the next player who had to bring it back up.  When we were finished that we had to do the cross-country that had one jump (a spread) and a river-crossing, to get a ping-pong ball and trot back up to the horse-box. We dropped the ping-pong ball. We had to strip the horse of its tack, and get it ready for travelling, put the tack all back on again and after that we had to gallop to the finish. At the end of the day we came second. There were 4 people on the team. We raised €850.00 for the Lara Lynn Childrens’ Hospice.

Poems by pupils from 2nd Class.

I saw a man open a door,

I saw the man fall across the floor,

I saw him steal a cat,

I saw the cat eat the rat.

I saw a rat on the road,

I saw it near my foot,

I saw it go down the creamery,

Then I got it easily.

I saw a man at the car,

I saw the man biting a bar,

I saw the man eating a bun,

I saw the man making a run.

I saw the man having fun,

I saw the boy looking at the sun,

I saw the boy stealing white paint,

I saw the boy doing something because you were waiting.

My Rabbit Barbie

My rabbit is black and white. Her name is Barbie. She has two other friends, and she likes to play with them. Her favourite food is carrots and lettuce.

THE SECRET ROOM

Once upon a time there lived a king and a queen with a lonely princess. She was miserable because she had no brother or sister and no one to play with. So she went exploring the castle. She found a room that she had never been in before. It was a dusty spooky room. There were toys on the shelves and on the floor. Suddenly she was frightened by a sound from the corner. She turned around and saw two teddy bears clapping hands. She was just about to run but the teddies called her back to play with them. They played a small game of catch and ball game. The princess had great fun playing with her new friends. The sun was setting when she went downstairs and she was looking forward to playing with her new friends again.

Miss. Flynn's pangolin

Miss. Flynn's pangolin hates school dinner,

and Miss. Flynn's pangolin is growing thinner!

Miss. Flynn's pangolin can't cope with stew,

but he's mad about ants which you don't have to chew.

So if Miss. Flynn's pangolin becomes distressed,

send Miss Flynn's pangolin to find a nice ants nest!

Aren't they pretty ugly?

Just to finish off for this month, you might like to take a look back to this time last year.
