Let me introduce myself

My Name is Ailbhe.  I am 8 years old.  I am in the friends group. There are three people in my group.  My teacher’s name is Mr de Burca.  My hobbies are horse riding and dancing.  I have one sister and two brothers.  They are all older than me.  I go to school by bus.  One of my brothers goes to secondary school in town.  He goes in the car with mammy.  She is a teacher.  Daddy is a farmer.  He milks cows.  I live on a farm.  Sometimes I help hunt the cows.  I have a black dog.  Her name is Pippy.  She strayed into us.  She is not good with the cows.

My Sister

My mammy got a baby last night at 4 o clock. I am going to Waterford to day. She is beautiful. I saw her. My mam sent a photo to us. They woke me up at 4 o clock. They shouted and shouted saying “Jade, Orla got the baby.” My friends are writing stories about it.

France

We went on holidays to France. First we drove to the airport in Cork. We flew to Nice. We hired a car and drove to the campsite. There was a swimming pool with a slide there. We had great fun. One day we went to a slide and splash park. One night we went to see all the boats. I got a braid in my hair.

My School

The School was built in 1956, there was an extension built in 1991 and 2005.  We added on a new sports hall and a new classroom.  We have about 120 pupils in our school.  There are four classrooms in the school.  There are two classes to each room.  Mrs Fennell teaches junior and senior infants.  Mr de Búrca teaches 1st and 2nd class.  Mrs Collins teaches 3rd and 4th class and Mr Culloo is the school principal.  The school opens at 9.20am every morning and we finish school at 3 o’clock.  Junior and senior infants go home at 2 o’clock.  The 2nd class pupils are making their first holy communion on the 19th of May 2007.

The Farmer and the Farm

I can see a cow. I can see a horse. I can see a sheep. I can also see a black sheep. I can see a scarecrow. I can see the farmer.  His name is Robbie. There is a big tree in the picture. The leaves are falling down. The leaves are going brown and rusty. It is autumn.

We collected leaves and we are looking at the different shapes. We also went across the road and we picked blackberries. They are ripe early this year because it was a very hot summer.

We are learning all about adding. Amy made a picture to help us.
7 and 4 is 11 7 + 4 = 11
9 and 3 is 12 9 + 3 = 12
10 and 1 is 11 10 + 1 = 11
6 and 6 is 12 6 + 6 = 12

Here are some more words. The all mean the same thing. Adding. Plus. Addition. Altogether.

Just to finish off for this month, you might like to take a look back to this time last year.
