The Hare and the Tortoise

The hare and the tortoise were talking. Why don’t we have a race asked the hare. Very well said the tortoise. Ready steady go said the fox. The hare ran very fast. He stopped to wait for the tortoise. He fell fast asleep. The tortoise won the race. All the animals cheered.

St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland. St. Patrick’s Feast Day is the 17th of March. St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated in different parts of the world. In Ireland we celebrate his feast day by wearing the shamrock and have a St. Patrick’s Day Parade in a town. It goes from Abbeyside down through the town into the square and there will be judges there to pick the best float or act. Last year there were elephants, horses, brass bands, the army, clowns, Mr. Bean and Bob the Builder. There is also a huge parade in Dublin on the television.

Animals are everywhere. I went to a library and I read a book about animals. Here are some dogs, cats, pigs, chipmunks, monkeys, elephants, tigers, lions, birds, chickens, bulls, beavers, crocodiles, horses, butterflies, snakes, crabs, rabbits, shark and a lizard. The book was very good.

Jamie has two dogs. Their names are Rintie and Wimpy. Jamie also has a gold fish called George. Mary-Kate has three dogs. Their names are Fardy, Taxi and Tobie. Mary-Kate has cows and chickens. Michael has fifteen cats, cows and one dog-called Sam. That is all we have to say about animals.

Conor Mac Neasa

Conor Mac Neasa was the king of Ulster. His warriors were called the Red Branch knight. He trained the Macra to   fight. The Macra were boys who wanted to become warriors. Setanta was the king’s nephew. He wanted to join the Macra. He kept begging his mother until she said yes. He was only seven years old. He set off for Conor’s fort with his silver ball, hurley, shield and his toy sword. The Macra were playing a game of hurling near the fort. Setanta joined in without being asked. The Macra threw their hurleys at him. He caught them all on his back . Setanta chased the boys away. The king was playing chess and he saw this. He was angry. He sent for Setanta. Setanta told him his story and the king allowed him to join the Macra.

Fionn

Long long ago in Ireland their was a man called Finegas.  Every day he went fishing by a river. There was a special fish called the salmon of knowledge.  One day a woman and her son called Fionn came to see Finegas to ask him to teach Fionn all he knew.  Shortly after that he caught the fish.  He told Fionn to cook the fish but not to eat it.  There was a bubble on the fish. Fionn poked it  and burnt his finger and he sucked it. He had all the knowledge.  He became a great and famous leader in Ireland.
