Thank you for visiting our website. Our names are Conor, Kealan and Stephen . We are in 6th class, and we are the current editors.

We already have two Green Flags in our school. We got them because we look after our environment. We got the first one in 2003 and the second one in 2005. We hope to get another one this year. We keep the school grounds clean by doing litter patrol. We recycle paper, batteries, old mobile phones and ink-cartridges.  We have a compost bin where we put the left-overs from lunch. We have signs in the school to remind us to turn off the lights and close the doors. This saves electricity. We have a Green School Committee. Mrs. Fennell is in charge. This year we must save water.

Ailbhe, age 8

I was at a party. The door slammed on my nail. I could not play most of the games. We had a treasure hunt. I found modelling clay. It was under a towel. The towel was thrown on the grass outside. Today is Monday and I am at school. I am back in school today. My sister Emma is sick today.

When my nanny was young in school.

When they were bold the got slapped on the hand. When my grandad was young….. he had to walk to school even if it was raining because they had no other way of getting there because they had no cars then. They had no water then so they had to go to the well. And they had no electricity then. They had no radio and had no tv and no computer.

The Salmon of Knowledge

Finegas   was   a  wise  man.  He   wanted   to   know  more.  He  wanted  to  catch  a  magic  fish.  Whoever  ate  the  fish  will  know  everything.  He   was  a  teacher  to  a   young    boy  called  Fionn.  One  day  they  caught  the   fish. He  asked   Fionn  to   cook  the  fish. When  he  was  cooking the fish he touched it with his finger. He sucked his finger and he got all the knowledge.

Hi my name is Sarah and I go to Whitechurch national school. Everyday l go to school l look up and see a green flag blowing in the wind from a pole in my school yard. It makes me proud to see this flag because it took a lot of effort by my school to get this flag. For a Long time we worked hard picking up papers planting flowers making the garden look nice, cleaning the yards, the classrooms and making my school look good. Because of this my school was awarded a green flag as a reward for all our hard work. I am proud of this and every day I look up at this flag I know with hard work I can achieve a lot.

Green Schools

Our school Whitechurch NS are trying to receive our third green flag. This year the theme is about Water so we made lots of projects about Water. This year 5th and 6th class created projects for the green school flag renewal. Our school has received two Green Flags already so we are trying to get our third flag. Fifth and Sixth class made charts on the computers, made graphs, did experiments and made books. Some people laminated and binded the books, others drew pictures and typed up stories to add to the books. We had great fun making the project.

Last week was the finals of my show jumping Competition .I was jumping in the mini league class. It was on in Colligan Equestrian centre .I go there every Tuesday for riding lessons. I was nervous on the day. The horse I rode was called Buster and he is a fast pony. I had to jump over nine fences twice, without knocking down any poles. We did very well but I thought I would come last. When Louise called out my name and said I came first I was very excited and happy. I got a lovely horse plaque and rosette. By Gretta

Colours

There are a lot of colours in the world. Everywhere we look theres colours. The rainbow has seven colours red, orange, yellow, green, blue ,Indigo and violet. You see a rainbow when its raining and then it gets sunny and that’s when you see a rainbow.I like colours,my favourite colour is blue I would to do a survey on whats your favourite colour. I would  say blue would win.

The room I’m sitting in now is full of colour because the walls are orange and the floor is brown. If we didn’t have colours we would be boring.
